Welcome back to Tried, Loved, and Illustrated
Issue No. 04, and it's the smallest one yet: one brand, one color, three pieces.
Keeping it in the same athleisure vibe as last issue, but this time the color is the whole reason I had to have it. It stopped me in my tracks. I wear black or white pretty much every day, so a pop of color this loud made me want it even more. So here’s my take on the NikeSKIMS Satin Shine set in Cobalt, the plunge bra and the drawcord shorts, plus a pair of crew socks to match.
First, the packaging details
I'm putting this before the reviews because it's the first thing I noticed, and I haven't stopped thinking about it.
This is my second NikeSKIMS haul, and the details made me just as happy as the first order did. I love the natural material, the rounded shape, and the embossed logo. It’s all so clean. Which is exactly why the cover for this issue uses the hangtag instead of a flat wordmark, and the last image is the tag blown up to full size with all three pieces listed on it.
1. NikeSKIMS: Satin Shine Plunge Bra
♡ Tried it & liked it
A plunge neckline in front, racerback straps behind, and a pullover fit with no clasp to deal with. The Cobalt is the whole point: super bright and shiny. It’s comfortable but looks sexy and cool at the same time. Runs true to size. But if I’m being honest, the support is not there if you’re planning to wear it to the gym, lol. Vibe > functionality. It does look cute though, and it makes my at-home workouts a little more fun and bright.
2. NikeSKIMS: Satin Shine Drawcord Short
♡ Tried it & liked it
The matching bottoms. It's a short short, with a drawcord on the inside of the waistband so you can adjust it without a bow sitting on the front. Super cute! I love how it looks with a white tee. The shine of the material makes it feel a little more elevated than your regular workout shorts, which is why I love them. I can see myself wearing these with an oversized sweater and looking dressed up and comfy at the same time.
3. NikeSKIMS: Dri-FIT Crew Socks
★ Essential
If these look familiar, it's because they were in Issue No. 03 in black. Same sock, different color.
They came in a set of three: black, brown, and this blue pair. I liked the variety of colors and could definitely see myself wearing them often. Nothing beats a Nike Dri-FIT sock.
The end.
Three pieces, one color. My verdict: I love the pieces separately, but wearing all three together is a lot. I kind of felt like a professional wrestler, lol. Not in a bad way, just a little over the top. As separate pieces, I’m definitely happy having them in my rotation to bring some more color into my athletic wardrobe. I also can see myself purchasing some more NikeSKIMS pieces in the future.
These were also really fun to draw. I got to play with different shades of blue to bring depth and texture to the illustrations.
